A great way for juniors with busy schedules and access to a telephone to find matches at ORC (free of charge)- contact Ben Hatcher for more details.
Monday Night House League The Monday night league welcomes all levels of players; from beginners through to advanced players, adults or juniors. Players will be positioned on teams so as to ensure that they are playing opponents of similar ability. The Monday night league is lots of fun, and offers players a chance to meet new opponents in a laidback social setting.
Junior Toronto and District Junior Squash Leagues
This is a fun semi-competitive venue for kids to use their squash skills in matches with kids from other clubs in the GTA. Kids will pay a nominal fee (TBA) for each match they play- to cover the costs (refreshments, etc). ORC has two teams in the T & D Junior Squash League a U13 and a U 17. Both teams are looking for players and spares. Some of our juniors also play on the adult T & D teams. Contact Ben Hatcher if you’re interested in playing or sparing for any of ORC’s T &D teams (junior or senior). ORC In-House Junior Squash Tournament A fun squash tournament open only to ORC juniors. Every junior squasher who is member of ORC, regardless of level should enter this fun event. There will be lots of beginners as well as veterans in the draws. Players are guaranteed multiple matches in this fun in-house competition. There will be lots of prizes for winners and draws prizes for all who participate in the event, not to mention food and refreshments.
ORC Club Championships
Juniors are encouraged to play this event also- there will definitely be categories for all levels of juniors (except for beginners under the age of 7). Last year a lot of our mid level juniors had very strong showings in their divisions (some winning). All juniors aged 7 or more should play in the club champs. See you on the court. Ben The Ontario Provincial Tournament Circuit (visit www.squashontario.com for the tournament schedule and to register) Bronze Events These events are geared towards participation, fun and providing a positive non- competitive experience for new junior squash players. These events are not geared towards determining a ‘winner’ or champion of the event. For kids who want to have fun playing squash, meet kids from other clubs and increase their confidence on the court, these events are a ‘must’. The Bronze events are also great (but certainly not necessary) preparation for Silver Events. Provincial Silver Junior Squash Tournaments These are conventional tournaments which are lots fun. Players play a minimum of three matches each in these events (they have the main, the consolation and the ‘grinners’ draws). Silver Events offer juniors squash players a positive experience in a competitive setting and an opportunity to be ranked in Ontario in the age category. Silver events are appropriate for all levels of play. Provincial Gold Junior Squash Tournaments Don’t be intimidated! The only difference between the gold and silver events is that for the top 8 kids in each age division, it is mandatory for them to play these events. Otherwise all of the same kids who play the silver events also play the gold events. Matches played may be weighed a little more heavily for ranking points (more of an opportunity to move up!). Go for it! |
