Pilates Mat Classes:
Pilates Essential Mat: (10 week series)

This series of 10 classes is the prerequisite and is intended to prepare the participants for the Pilates level 2 and 3 group exercise classes and Equipment Circuit. Participants will learn and apply the five essential Pilates principles to the beginner exercises and repertory exercises. The instructor can then identify specific modifications to the exercises to make them more appropriate to each participants needs. 

Participants are required to attend at least 8 of the 10 classes and are expected to achieve a good understanding of the Pilates essential exercises in order to be awarded a Pilates 2 and 3 class pass.

These open classes are included in all ORC
 memberships. See the Group Exercise schedule for dates and times. Prerequisite for attending these classes will include recent participation in an ORC Pilates Essentials group training session or appropriate private instruction from an ORC Pilates instructor/trainer. These restrictions will be strictly enforced. Assessments will be at the discretion of the instructor/trainer or Group Exercise Director. These procedures are required to ensure high quality programming, the safety and continued success of all participants.

Have you been out of touch with Pilates for 6 months or more? This class series is designed for those who have attended ORC essential class or equivalent and have earned the ORC Pilates 2 and 3 open class pass but have been away for a while. This refresher will allow you to focus on the basics of the Pilates practice and allow you time to put it all together for maximal benefits.

Pilates Equipment Intro Pack:

Includes one private session and 2 Semi Private Sessions with a Pilates Trainer/Instructor.
This is an introduction to the Pilates Equipment and is a prerequisite to the ORC’s Pilates Equipment circuit classes. An economical way to discover the possibilities the equipment can help you to achieve. Reformer, arc barrel, ball, fitness circles and flex band essentials will be covered to prepare you for the equipment classes.

Pilates Equipment Circuit 
$149.00+GST MEMBER, $170.00+GST NON-MEMBER/6 class session.

Take your Pilates practice to the next level. This small group training class will incorporate the basic principles from the mat to various pieces of equipment.
The reformer is a spring resistant piece of equipment. It helps participants enhance the mat exercises and to discover and correct alignment and muscular imbalances. The arc barrel assists in the modification of exercises while supporting the body through specific movements. Stability balls and flex bands will also be a large part of this equipment based class.
Build on your strength and co-ordination while developing toned, lean and flexible muscles. Class participation minimum is 3 participants, Maximum 5 participants.
Prerequisite-All participants must have completed the ORC Pilates mat essential clinic (10 classes) or equivalent and have obtained a Pilates 2 &3 class pass, as well as anPilates equipment intro Pack or appropriate experience with the reformer (1 private and 2 semi private) in order to participate in classes. Yoga at the ORC

HATHA YOGA (90 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: This yoga class will put you in touch with your body and breath. Increase energy and reduce stress through gentle stretching, strengthening and balancing postures with breathing techniques and meditative techniques.

POWER YOGA (90 MINUTES) Appropriate for intermediate to advanced levels: Selected postures are athletic in nature and are recommended for those who enjoy a physical challenge. Modifications are provided for those who require adjustments.

ASHTANGA YOGA (90 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: Posture is sequenced in successive series perfectly balanced to encourage strength , flexibility and relaxation through breath. This is a wonderful and essential cross training addition to anyone’s fitness routine.

STRETCH ( 60 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: Stretching is the key to flexibility. A stretch workout will help to increase your range of motion and improve muscle strength and help to prevent injury and muscle imbalances as we advance through our lives . These classes will target every part of your body. You must be patient increasing your flexibility takes time.

YOGA/STR (60 OR 90 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: Yoga/stretch integrates yoga postures with stretching techniques to provide effective results. Give yourself permission to slow down, your body will thank you for it.

STRETCHING ON THE BALL (60 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: The-resist-a-ball is an amazing and versatile tool. When used with stretching techniques, this tool can assist you in modifying the exercises to suit your physical abilities. You will be amazed at the possibilities. Yoga & ABS (60 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: Everyone needs to try this gem. The opportunity to develop inner strength and flexibility with the practice of yoga and to effectively train your abdominals and back resulting in a highly efficient and functional body.

THERAPUTIC YOGA NEW (90 MINUTES) Appropriate for all levels: An excellent compliment to any fitness routine, or can be used as a gentle way of approaching exercise after an illness, injury or years of inactivity. The classes include a mix of yoga and Tai Chi exercises and philosophy. The “inside out” approach to the exercise is an important component of relaxation therapy and beneficial to those wishing to take their yoga practice to a more individual and spiritual level.

SPORTS STRETCH AND ABS ( 45 MINUTES) Appropriate for all fitness levels: This class is geared towards those active members who participate regularly in sport or activities that cause the shortening in the muscles. This is an essential part of any training schedule whether it’s tennis, squash, marathon training or any other activity. Lengthening your muscles takes the stress off the supportive tissue and joints that ma y otherwise cause injury and time off. Practice prevention by coming to this class regularly.
