If you are looking for a well-rounded activity for your child, ORC’s Karate program has many benefits. Karate can help improve a child’s confidence, increase their self esteem, offer plenty of vigorous exercise that is fun, and can educate your kids on issues such as: bullying, personal safety and self defense. Karate programs are well-rounded activities creating a balance for any child since it combines and develops the mind, body and spirit. Karate training can result in a stronger sense of commitment, a more humble attitude, in addition to a greater sense of awareness and compassion.

Students are taught Kata’s, which is a form of movements using both hands and feet. The Karate student is also taught stances, combinations, street proofing and personal safety techniques.

Karate which translates into “the way of the empty hand” uses a series of different coloured belts to show a student’s ranking. Karate students are graded from white to black belts. Your child must achieve a number of red stripe levels on each belt before going to the next grading. Each belt is worn around a uniform called a Gi. The sensei or teacher tests each student to decide whether they are ready to move to the next level. “Karate is the best. It’s great for the mind and spirit, plus it’s a lot of fun”, says 14-year-old Evan who has been taken Karate for the last 2 years at ORC’s Karate Academy. Karate doesn’t have to break the parent’s pocket book either.

At ORC’s Karate Academy your child can partake in an after school program for an entire school year, usually earning their yellow belt for under $350.00. There are no grading fees and the only other expense is the uniform, which usually lasts 2 to 3 years. Non-members are most welcomed.

Why Should Your Child Join ORC’s Karate Program:
  • Builds Confidence
  • Teaches Discipline
  • Develops Character
  • Social Interaction
  • Relieves Stress
  • Improves Coordination
  • Teaches Street Proofing
  • Fitness and Flexibility
  • Plus it is a lot of FUN
“Karate should be taught as a form of self defense and not a form of fighting, of which it is not”, says Sensei Kirk, head instructor at ORC’s Karate Academy. Sensei Kirk is a 4th Degree Black Belt with over 25 years of teaching and instructing 1000s of children, preteens and teenagers personal safety and self defense. He is also the author of best seller Common Sense Self Defense for Parents, Preteens and Teenagers.

Sensei Kirk can be reached at 905-822-5240 ext 612.
